Message If your brakes don't vibrate when you apply them, i would say that rules that out.

side to side movement of the wheel if you grab them at 9 and 3 and try to move it and it has play it is most likely a tie rod.

if you grab the wheel at 12 and 6 and it has play that way its most likely a ball joint.

Those symptoms wouldn't really cause a drive ability vibration while on the highway. They would be more of a sloppy feeling in the steering. You would prob also hear a clunk or thud every now and again.

I had a problem before that a cambered set of tired actually caused a vibration between 35-45 mph and would go away at any other speeds than that. Wheel bearings are also culprits. Not that that singles one thing out for you. But it does sound odd that the car only vibrates on the highway. Have you had the wheels re-balanced at all?
